As a preliminary test of our new Studio space and our new Red Scarlet, and thus our ability to finally shoot high-quality greenscreen… as well as a way for Dad to spend some quality time with his 9-year old daughters this summer, so was born the concept of “Daddy Film Camp.” This quickly combined the ideas of “faeries,” “steampunk,” and “time-travel” and became a 10-page script for “The Watchers.”
Amidst stifling summer heat, mosquitos (and the dreaded West Nile virus), and the lure of our equally new swimming pool, we tried to shoot enough pages to get the short “in the can” by summer’s end.
Dad hopes to find enough time to edit this short film over the holidays, although it is very likely we will still need some pick up shooting (in the spring?) to craft an entirely coherent or complete little story.
But at least this test turned out pretty cool.
