This was a throwback to many lost loves. For me, it definitely reminded me of my Hell is Texas days, as “The Horseman Saloon” looked almost as familiar to me as the Boca Seca Saloon from my first feature. Furthering the nostalgia, the saloon was filled with old Lonesone Dove memorabilia, since it’s the same bar counter where Augustus “Gus” McCrae slammed some cowpoke’s head into the counter-top, in that awesome mini-series...
Back in the fall of 2013 I had the pleasure of working on Crackle’s hit show CHOSEN, producing a fairly large number of visual effects for Ben Ketai’s action-packed television/web show, starring Milo Ventimiglia and Chad Michael Murray. This is one of my favorite sequences for Season 2. All muzzle flashes, sparks, ejected shells, and blood (with the exception of one close-up squib shot) are digital, produced by ZaneFX.
This is a random spattering of multiple things I’ve done in recent times. Some FX, some direction, some cinematography, some compositing. I wear a lot of hats, and this is just a flurry of them randomly jumbled together.
Everything looks great in slow-mo. But especially gritty action sports photography with a bunch of hard-nosed, serious ball players. (more…)
