Well, I’ve replaced my old iWeb blog with a new WordPress-driven back-end, and reclaimed zane.tv and made it and rzanerutledge.com one and the same thing. With a new video-centric frame of mind.
My hope is to somehow merge both my speculation in the future of independent film and my current forays into visual effects for low-budget films — as well as my ongoing professional commercial work — into some kind of cohesive whole. So you’ll find it all here.
My reel, of course, though I’m still tweaking how you navigate, and it might take me awhile to get it all online. (Going back through some of that earlier work is downright painful, though there are gems in there. It already practically hurts me to watch footage in that boxy 4:3 aspect ratio. Gag.) I hope to eventually have everything I’ve done and everything I do neatly catalogued for online access. (A few shots, like my recent one in Baghead, I won’t get to show simply for spoiler reasons, but hopefully that won’t affect too much of my reel.)
Also, I plan to post tests and tutorials from both past work and future work, maybe in something resembling podcast form. I’m hoping to get back to the spirit of sharing that I began in the Hell is Texas days, revealing tricks and tips of the trade, with video footage documenting my behind-the-scenes for the Do-It-Yourselfers out there. Visual effects, 3D animation, design, shooting… you name it, I’ll share it all here.
