CeRam-Kote wins a Telly!
Our 2014 CeRam-Kote commercial was recently recognized with a Telly Award.
While we’ve won numerous Tellys now over the years, this gives us a moment to show off some of the additional work we did for CeRam-Kote, including the design of their new website, several trade show posters (see above, and below), and some slick print brochures.
The goal with the video (and the design overall) was rugged but hi-tech. Oilfield brawn meets geeky smart. We visualized a hybrid between those two concepts with a hint of humor — strong and visually powerful. Essentially, it’s a stylized treatment of rugged imagery, bold fonts, and strong metaphors but also with a human component.
Utilizing our in-house greenscreen studio, we were able to transport a handful of talented actors (including local talent David Blackwell, below) into a “pop-up book”-style West Texas landscape, stylishly rendered in black-and-white (and red). Classic diners, pump-jacks, oilfield filth and muck make for a rugged spot. After all, “they don’t call ‘em roughnecks for nothing.”
We also designed some of the most ironic/comedic moments into the poster images, emphasizing the “TOUGH. SMART.FAST.” messaging that drives the campaign. Many of these also greet the website as well.
“Yep, we’re that smart.”
